About CARTRIDGE FILTER HOUSING

A Cartridge Filter Housing is a pressure vessel designed to hold one or more filter cartridges for the removal of suspended solids, sediment, rust, dirt, sand, silt, scale particles, and other particulate contaminants from liquids or gases. It is one of the most widely used filtration systems in water treatment plants, pharmaceutical industries, food and beverage processing, chemical manufacturing, electronics, power plants, and numerous industrial applications.

The cartridge filter housing provides a sealed enclosure that directs the process fluid through replaceable filter cartridges, ensuring efficient filtration and protection of downstream equipment such as pumps, valves, membranes, UV systems, ozone systems, heat exchangers, and process equipment. Depending on the cartridge micron rating, cartridge filters can remove particles ranging from 100 microns down to 0.1 micron, producing high-quality filtered water suitable for various industrial processes.

Cartridge filter housings are available in multiple configurations, including single-cartridge and multi-cartridge designs, and are manufactured in various materials to suit different operating conditions and process requirements.

Working Principle:

A Cartridge Filter Housing operates on the principle of depth filtration or surface filtration, depending on the cartridge type.

The filtration process consists of the following steps:

Process water enters the filter housing through the inlet connection.

The liquid is evenly distributed around the filter cartridges.

Water passes through the filter media from the outside to the inside (or inside to outside in specific designs).

Suspended particles are retained within or on the surface of the filter media.

Clean filtered water exits through the outlet connection.

As contaminants accumulate, the pressure differential across the cartridge gradually increases.

Once the pressure drop reaches the recommended limit, the filter cartridge is replaced.

This process provides efficient removal of particulate contaminants while maintaining continuous process flow.
